International Programs Award Announcement:Exhibition Garden Design Scheme for Master Garden of 2024 Chengdu World Horticultural Expo
2024成都世界園藝博覽會(huì)是由國(guó)際園藝生產(chǎn)者協(xié)會(huì)（AIPH）授權(quán)，中國(guó)政府批準(zhǔn)，四川省人民政府主辦，成都市人民政府承辦的國(guó)際最高規(guī)格的花卉園藝展會(huì)。本屆世園會(huì)將緊密圍繞“公園城市美好人居”的辦會(huì)主題，打造一屆“時(shí)代特征、國(guó)際水平、中國(guó)元素、成都特色”的世界花卉園藝盛會(huì)，主會(huì)場(chǎng)將設(shè)在成都東部新區(qū)。
2024成都世界園藝博覽會(huì)大師園組織委員會(huì)于2023年7月發(fā)布了《2024成都世界園藝博覽會(huì)大師園展園設(shè)計(jì)方案國(guó)際征集公告》，面向全球范圍內(nèi)的景觀設(shè)計(jì)機(jī)構(gòu)公開征集未來(lái)園藝展區(qū)中的4個(gè)境外大師園展園的方案設(shè)計(jì)。經(jīng)過(guò)報(bào)名、資格審查、方案評(píng)審等環(huán)節(jié)，中標(biāo)結(jié)果如下：

The 2024 Chengdu World Horticultural Expo is an international flower and horticultural exhibition of the highest standard authorized by the Association of International Horticultural Producers(AIPH),approved by the Chinese government,hosted by the People's Government of Sichuan Province and undertaken by the People's Government of Chengdu.The World Horticultural Expo will closely focus on the theme of"Park City and Habitat"to create a world flower and horticultural event with"contemporary characteristics,international level,Chinese elements and Chengdu characteristics",and the main venue will be located in the eastern part of Chengdu New District.
The Master Garden Organizing Committee of the 2024 Chengdu World Horticultural Expo issued the"International Call for Master Garden Designs for the 2024 Chengdu World Horticultural Expo Master Garden Exhibition"in July 2023,and openly solicited the designs of four overseas master gardens in the Future Horticultural Exhibition Area for the landscape design institutions around the world.After the application,qualification examination,program evaluation and other links,the winning results are as follows:DS1-Mitani,Toru+R-land;DS3-Ecological Design Associates Limited;DS4-Tom Leader Studio Inc(TLS);DS5-West 8 urban design&landscape architecture b.v.;Finalist Team-Giardini Mati 1909 and Niek Roozen B.V.&BDAW（ASIA）LIMITED.

Team Introduction：
三谷徹（Mitani,Toru），東京大學(xué)建筑系教授，“studio on site”事務(wù)所合伙人。他專注于景觀設(shè)計(jì)中的空間和形態(tài)研究，同時(shí)挑戰(zhàn)從私人花園到公共空間的新設(shè)計(jì)。他在自然與建筑之間探求景觀設(shè)計(jì)的意義，基于對(duì)生態(tài)學(xué)和地理學(xué)的理解，將其運(yùn)用在空間設(shè)計(jì)方法及景觀形態(tài)語(yǔ)言上。他與學(xué)生和事務(wù)所設(shè)計(jì)師們一起，通過(guò)設(shè)計(jì)實(shí)踐和學(xué)術(shù)研究，不斷追求什么是景觀設(shè)計(jì)的真諦。

Toru Mitani is a landscape architect who continues his design activities with the design firm：‘studio on site.’Currently,at the Department of Architecture in the University of Tokyo,he specializes in spatial and morphological studies in landscape architecture,while challenging new designs ranging from private gardens to public spaces.He develops consideration on the meaning of landscape design generated between nature and construction.He conducts research on the morphological language of landscape through the phenomenological spatial design method based on an understanding of ecology and geography.Together with students and members of the firm,he still keeps learning what landscape design is,through design practices and academic research.

02設(shè)計(jì)方案說(shuō)明：
Design Statement:
回歸大地的花園
將花園設(shè)計(jì)成竹林叢園，光影交錯(cuò)，微風(fēng)拂葉，吸引游客進(jìn)入花園。園子由自然和人工元素逐漸融合而成，前者由為節(jié)日種植的活竹組成，后者則由按網(wǎng)格布局建造的竹竿組成。直到轉(zhuǎn)過(guò)幾個(gè)彎，游客們會(huì)注意到對(duì)面還有一個(gè)長(zhǎng)凳，這就是花園返回之路的起點(diǎn)。
展覽過(guò)后，除了那塊石碑和一對(duì)長(zhǎng)椅，花園里的一切都將回歸大地。竹竿將在風(fēng)雨中腐朽，小路將褪色為草皮，而竹根將在不久的將來(lái)覆蓋整個(gè)花園，展現(xiàn)出勃勃生機(jī)。2024年后，這里將承載無(wú)數(shù)人的足跡。
A Garden Returning to Earth
The garden is designed as a grove.The pattern of light and shade with the breeze of leaves invites visitors into the garden.The grove is composed of the gradual integration of natural and artificial elements.The former consists of living bamboo planted for the festival,while the latter comprises bamboo poles constructed in a grid layout.It is not until turning several corners of the path which eventually brings visitors through to the bench at the center of the garden,that they notice another bench at the opposite side,which turns out to be the starting point of the way back that represents the essential message of the garden.
Everything in this garden will return to earth after the festival.Poles will decay under the rain and wind and the path will fade into the sod,while bamboo roots will express vitality by covering all over the garden in the near future.Nothing but the monolith,a pair of benches,will inherit the fact that many people walked this place in 2024.

Design Statement:
設(shè)計(jì)以川西本土原生植物為核心，以竹類為設(shè)計(jì)骨干植物，主要以常綠及落葉混交闊葉林為林冠層喬木，以及抗性良好的地被層植物再現(xiàn)原始四川森林生態(tài)系統(tǒng)，再通過(guò)隱于竹林間的構(gòu)筑物與地形重塑，營(yíng)造出“竹海林窗”的展園格局。設(shè)計(jì)將采樣古蜀自然環(huán)境中的原生植物群落，使用竹類和喬木為主體營(yíng)造基礎(chǔ)植物景觀群落，融入成都不同區(qū)域和生境的原生自然植被和典型建筑風(fēng)貌。以竹海林窗、林盤村落、公園城市、氣候變化、四海歸源為主題的五組林窗，構(gòu)畫出以竹海為基底，將植物、文化、建筑融為一體的經(jīng)典展園。
高大的竹類分成大小不同的組團(tuán)隨機(jī)分布在展園當(dāng)中,稍矮一些的散生竹類以及林下灌木點(diǎn)綴其中，形成豐富林地的空間結(jié)構(gòu)。蜿蜒的步道高低起伏穿梭于林間，將大小展園形成完整的故事線，林下地被選用有觀賞價(jià)值的中藥材草本與其他常綠打底地被相映成趣；步移景異，游客在享受豐富的視覺體驗(yàn)同時(shí)，從園藝、植物角度了解成都公園城市的背景和驅(qū)動(dòng)力以及園藝產(chǎn)業(yè)發(fā)展契機(jī)。花開天府之地，萬(wàn)園終將歸源。
The design is based on the native plants of western Sichuan,with bamboo as the backbone plant,evergreen and deciduous mixed broad-leaved forests as the main canopy trees,as well as groundcover plants with good resistance to reproduce the original Sichuan forest ecosystem,and then through the structures hidden in the bamboo forests and terrain remodelling,to create an exhibition pattern of the"Bamboo Sea and Forest Window".The design will sample the native plant communities in the ancient Sichuan natural environment,use bamboo and trees as the main body to create the basic plant landscape communities,and incorporate the native natural vegetation and typical architectural features of different areas and habitats in Chengdu.The five groups of forest windows with the themes of Bamboo Sea,Forest Village,Park City,Climate Change,and Returning to the Source of the Four Seas are designed to create a classic exhibition garden that integrates plants,culture,and architecture with the bamboo sea as the base.
Tall bamboos are randomly distributed in groups of different sizes,while shorter scattered bamboos and undergrowth shrubs form a rich spatial structure of the woodland.The meandering walkway weaves in and out of the forest,forming a complete story line of the large and small exhibition gardens,and the undergrowth is made up of Chinese herbs with ornamental value and other evergreen undergrowth,which is interesting;the visitors can enjoy a rich visual experience and at the same time,learn about the background and driving force of the park city of Chengdu as well as the opportunities for the development of the horticulture industry from the perspective of horticulture and plants.The land of Tianfu will blossom,and all gardens will eventually return to their source.

Design Statement:
空心竹燈
“一切現(xiàn)象，就像一個(gè)幻象，一個(gè)影子，一道燈籠的光芒。光熄滅的地方，無(wú)物存在，空心竹燈。虛懷若竹。”
——這首短詩(shī)概括了這座花園設(shè)計(jì)的理念。
由燈籠、竹子、金沙遺址等蜀地文化意向出發(fā)，TOM先生探索中國(guó)文化給自己帶來(lái)的領(lǐng)悟。竹子和燈籠的“空心”，虛與實(shí)的共存，仿佛指示自然的本源是謙遜、虛心而自我隱藏的，它產(chǎn)生出自然的力量、美和容易被忽視的存在。
如果在想象中把竹桿或燈籠橫切開，會(huì)看到它們的內(nèi)部是空洞，而外部是一圈圓形的、看不透的表層。這座花園的結(jié)構(gòu)正是源于這一“空心竹燈”的意象：它由一層層編織網(wǎng)的墻，組成同心圓外層，編織網(wǎng)上是半透明的植物圖案。層層重疊的圖案和影子，環(huán)繞著花園的中央，那里有一團(tuán)發(fā)光的霧氣，仿佛燈籠的光。
花園像一座迷宮或一片竹林一般，吸引游人向深處探索，我們希望每個(gè)人在游覽過(guò)程中有自己的感受和樂趣。
花園的周圍環(huán)繞著竹林和竹絲束。竹絲束的想法來(lái)源于四川的竹絲曬場(chǎng)，而竹制水瓶架，竹制腳手架是我們對(duì)于竹子的一些新利用，為花園增加趣味。
Lantern
“All conditioned phenomena are like a illusion,a shadow,a glow of lantern,where the glow has gone,there is nothing.Hollow lantern,as humble as bamboo.”
——This short poem summarizes our idea.
Starting from the cultural intention of lanterns,bamboo,Jinsha Ruins and other characteristics of Shu,Tom explores the insights that Chinese culture brings to him.The"hollow"of bamboo and lanterns,the coexistence of emptiness and reality,as if to indicate that the origin of nature is humble,modest and self-hidden,which gives rise to the power,beauty and easily overlooked presence of nature.
If we cut open a bamboo pole or lantern in imagination,the inside would be empty,while the outside would be a round invisible surface.The structure of the garden is derived from this image of a"hollow bamboo as lantern":it consists of layers of nylon meshes of translucent plant patterns that form the outer layer of concentric circles.Layers of patterns and shadow surround the center of the garden,where there is a glowing mist,like the light of a lantern.
Like a maze or a bamboo grove,the garden attracts visitors to explore the depths,and we hope that everyone has their own feelings and fun during the tour.
The garden is surrounded by bamboo grove and bamboo strands.The idea of the bamboo bundles comes from the Sichuan bamboo wire sunbeds.And the bamboo water bottle rack and bamboo scaffolding are some of new utilization of bamboo,adding some little fun to the whole garden.

Christian Dobrick,partner and senior landscape architect at West 8,specializes in landscape design for complex urban public spaces.He has led a number of notable large-scale urban design and landscape projects,including the award-winning Madrid Riverside Renewal Landscape Project in Madrid,Spain,the masterplan for the German Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe,Germany,and the masterplan for the UNESCO-protected site of the Vechtenburg,which demonstrates his exceptional project control skills.
02設(shè)計(jì)方案說(shuō)明：
Design Statement:
小涼潭
“涼快”——是成都人夏天的第一要?jiǎng)?wù)。
悶熱的三伏天，一股清泉流過(guò)皮膚，沒什么比這樣的降溫來(lái)得更巴適。在沒有空調(diào)的年代，活水公園打水仗、猛追灣游泳、青城后山插水、虹口漂流、“馬架子”放在清涼的溪水里喝茶打麻將，是每個(gè)成都人的記憶和向往。
柳宗元在《小石潭記》里寫到：“從小丘西行百二十步，隔篁竹，聞水聲，如鳴珮環(huán)”。小涼潭就是這樣一個(gè)地方。我們不希望它成為游客匆匆路過(guò)的打卡點(diǎn)，它將是人們停下來(lái)納涼的避暑地。
沒有明確的游覽線路，小涼潭的西面南面皆可進(jìn)入，圍繞它提供庇蔭的樹林是躲避高溫的第一道屏障。
穿林而過(guò)，可見溪流潺潺，“下見小潭，水尤清冽。全石以為底，近岸，卷石底以出，為坻，為嶼，為嵁，為巖”。四川本地的紅砂巖塊，還有河灘上隨處可見的鵝卵石，是小涼潭的主要材料。三股清泉順著精巧設(shè)置的地形，旋轉(zhuǎn)奔流，到了中央最深處，匯合成一個(gè)清澈見底的小水譚。
隨便找塊石頭坐下，把腳沒進(jìn)水里，讓冷冽的泉水緩解雙腿的疲倦；或是搬一把“馬架子”，樹蔭下、溪流中，以最自然的方式降降溫；等休息夠了，干脆起身走入渦流，和同伴們來(lái)一場(chǎng)童年記憶中的水仗。
THE COOL GARDEN
“Coolness”-Don’t know when it became the first priority of Chengdu people in summer.
In the sweltering dog days,there is no more efficient way of cooling than fresh flow touchs your skin.In the era without air-conditioning,water fights in Living Water Park,swimming in Mengzhui Bay,wading in the Qingcheng mountain,rafting in Hongkou,drinking tea and playing mahjong in the cool stream with bamboo chairs are the memories and wishes of almost every Chengdu person.
The atmosphere of The Cool Garden was inspired“The small tarn”written by Liu Zongyuan:“A hundred and twenty paces west of the knoll,across the bamboos and bushes I heard with delight a gurgling like the sound made by jade bracelets.”The Cool Garden is such a place.We don't want it to be a hit-and-miss spot for tourists rushing by;it will be a summer vacation spot for people to stop and cool off.
There is no definite tour route,but The Cool Garden can be accessed from the west and south,and the woods that surround it to provide shade are the first refuge from the heat.
Through the forest,you can see the stream gurgling,"under the small pool,the water is especially fresh and clean.All the rocks for the bottom,near the shore,rolled stone bottom to out,for his,for the island,for the evidence,for the rock".Sichuan local red sandstone blocks,as well as pebbles everywhere on the river bank,is the main material of the small Liangtan.Three streams of clear water follow the delicately set terrain,swirling and running,and when they reach the deepest part of the center,they merge to form a small,crystal clear water pool.
Just find a rock to sit down,put your feet into the water,let the cold spring water to relieve the tired legs;or take a bamboo chair,under the shade of the trees,in the stream,in the most natural way to cool down;and so rest enough,simply get up and walk into the eddy,and companions to have a childhood memories of the water war.

代表Mati 1909的意大利團(tuán)隊(duì)由Andrea Mati和Costanza Mondani組成。Andrea Mati是Mati 1909集團(tuán)公司的聯(lián)合所有者，他是一位園林設(shè)計(jì)師、藝術(shù)家、社會(huì)企業(yè)家和博洛尼亞大學(xué)（Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna）治療性花園設(shè)計(jì)教授。Costanza Mondani是一位建筑師，Mati 1909治療性花園設(shè)計(jì)團(tuán)隊(duì)的部門經(jīng)理，畢業(yè)于米蘭理工大學(xué)（Politecnico of Milan）和西安建筑科技大學(xué)（Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology），并在清華大學(xué)攻讀博士學(xué)位。

Mati 1909一直與佛羅倫薩、博洛尼亞和帕多瓦的醫(yī)學(xué)和心理學(xué)院的教授和博士進(jìn)行治療性花園的相關(guān)研究，并在意大利各地實(shí)施了許多項(xiàng)目和會(huì)議。2022年11月，該集團(tuán)在意大利皮斯托亞舉辦了第一屆全國(guó)治療性花園大會(huì)。
The Italian Team representing Mati 1909 is composed by Andrea Mati and Costanza Mondani.
Andrea Mati is the co-owner of the Mati 1909 Group Company and he is a garden designer,artist,social entrepreneur and Professor of Therapeutic Garden design at Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna.
Costanza Mondani is an architect,department manager of Therapeutic Garden design team at Mati 1909,graduated in Politecnico of Milan and Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology and PhD candidate at Tsinghua University,China.
The Chinese team is from Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology.Li Kun received his PhD from Politecnico di Milano and now teaches at the School of Architecture,Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology.Yang Zexin is a PhD candidate at the School of Architecture,Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology.
Mati 1909 has been following much research about therapeutic gardens with professors and Doctors of the Universities of Medicine and Psychology of Florence,Bologna and Padova and has been implementing many projects and conferences around Italy.In November 2022,the group organized the first National Convention of Therapeutic Gardens in Pistoia,Italy.

Design Statement:
DS3地塊的項(xiàng)目設(shè)計(jì)遵循了康療花園的設(shè)計(jì)原則，盡量避免建造，并使用100%的自然元素，例如遮蔭區(qū)的植物和通道的火山土。
該設(shè)計(jì)由6個(gè)區(qū)域組成，代表了從傳統(tǒng)到現(xiàn)代的不同類型的菜園：由各國(guó)家典型果樹構(gòu)成的古典平地果園；文藝復(fù)興時(shí)期的菜園，由幾何形的植物邊界和內(nèi)部的花卉和蔬菜組成，就像歐洲修道院的傳統(tǒng)一樣；永續(xù)栽培區(qū)，由幾種尺寸的可食用植物自由搭配；協(xié)作菜園，以螺旋形狀與精確選擇的蔬菜構(gòu)成。中央?yún)^(qū)域是木梁菜園，呈"環(huán)抱"狀，供人們?cè)谇胺讲萜荷闲菹ⅰ１泵娴膮^(qū)域?qū)ｉT用于遮陽(yáng)避雨。
每個(gè)區(qū)域周圍都有不同植物和大小的灌木叢，所選樹木既有落葉樹，也有常綠樹，還有幾種果樹，營(yíng)造出一個(gè)廣闊的果園。
入口處的水面是花園的“請(qǐng)柬”，遵循風(fēng)水的能量原則。如果把患者帶入園內(nèi)進(jìn)行園藝治療，那么設(shè)計(jì)的空間就成為一個(gè)治療花園，它還可以幫助受抑郁癥影響的人們發(fā)現(xiàn)園藝在自然中對(duì)抗日常城市壓力的有益作用。科學(xué)研究表明，尤其是在癡呆癥、抑郁癥、阿爾茨海默病和飲食失調(diào)的情況下，參與園藝手動(dòng)勞動(dòng)對(duì)減少藥物和改善患者情緒非常有益。
The project design of the DS3 area followed our design principles for the therapeutic gardens,trying to avoid built construction and using 100%of natural elements,such as plants for the shading areas and volcanic soil for the pathways.
The design is composed of 6 areas representing the different typologies of vegetable gardens from tradition to modernity:the classical ground orchard,typical of every country;the Renaissance vegetable garden,made by geometric topiary borders and inner flowers and vegetables,like in the European monastic tradition;the permaculture orchard,made of free shaped and disposition of edible plants of several dimensions;the synergic vegetable gardens,made in spiral shape with a precise selection of vegetables in synergy.The central area is dedicated to the wooden-beam vegetable garden in a“hug”shape for hosting people in relaxation in the front lawn.An area is devoted to shade from sun and rain in the norther area.
Each area is surrounded by bushes of different plants and dimension and the trees selected are both deciduous and evergreen with several type of fruits trees to create a widespread orchard.
Water at the entrance is the invitation to the garden,following fengshui energetic principles.The designed space became a therapeutic garden if patients are lead inside to do horticultural therapy and it can also help people affected by depression to discover the beneficial role of horticulture into nature against everyday city stress.This manual activity has been revealed by scientific researches extremely beneficial and crucial for reducing pharmacological medicines and enhancing the patients’mood,mostly in the cases of dementia,depression,Alzheimer and eating disorders.

Design Statement:
成都有著悠久的歷史文化和獨(dú)特地理地貌，蜀繡作為中國(guó)四大名繡之一，是成都的民間工藝。設(shè)計(jì)的靈感來(lái)源于成都特殊的自然肌理，提取山地特色塑造花園的基底，使用新型的材料——竹鋼形成屏風(fēng)，三個(gè)不同的水景分別代表成都的山脈、盆地以及高山的豐富景觀特色，展示成都天際線肌理以及文化特色形態(tài)。
抬高的生態(tài)噴泉是花園的中心，噴泉頂端種植低維護(hù)的屋頂綠化植物以鼓勵(lì)綠色建筑的設(shè)計(jì)原則。
植物設(shè)計(jì)借鑒荷蘭的可持續(xù)多年生植物與球莖植物的自然混植設(shè)計(jì)理念，采用60種水生植物、小灌木、多年生開花植物和球莖植物，展示綠色在城市中的價(jià)值，構(gòu)造一個(gè)自然積極的場(chǎng)所，鼓勵(lì)人們更多參與自然戶外的活動(dòng)。
通過(guò)這個(gè)方案，我們希望向四川及國(guó)際游客展現(xiàn)園藝積極的姿態(tài)，通過(guò)創(chuàng)造生物多樣性、演繹當(dāng)?shù)氐乩砣宋?、生態(tài)低碳設(shè)計(jì)的策略，以美麗的方式講述綠色城市和低碳未來(lái)城市的故事。
Chengdu has a long history,culture and unique geography.Shu embroidery,as one of the four famous embroideries in China,is a folk craft in Chengdu.The design is inspired by the special natural texture of Chengdu,extracting mountainous features to form the base of the garden,using a new material-bamboo and steel to form a screen,and three different water features to represent Chengdu's rich landscape features of mountains,basins,and high mountains,showcasing the texture of Chengdu's skyline and its cultural features and morphology.
An elevated ecological water fountain is the centrepiece of the garden,topped with low-maintenance green roof planting to encourage green building design principles.
The planting design draws on the Dutch concept of a natural mix of sustainable perennials and bulbs,using 60 species of aquatic plants,small shrubs,flowering perennials and bulbs to demonstrate the value of greenery in the city and to construct a naturally positive place that encourages greater participation in natural outdoor activities.
Through this programme,we hope to show Sichuan and international visitors the positive posture of horticulture and tell the story of a green city and a low-carbon future city in a beautiful way by creating biodiversity,interpreting local geography and humanity,and ecological and low-carbon design strategies.

The 2024 Chengdu World Horticultural Expo is an international flower and horticultural exhibition of the highest standard authorized by the Association of International Horticultural Producers(AIPH),approved by the Chinese government,hosted by the People's Government of Sichuan Province and undertaken by the People's Government of Chengdu.The World Horticultural Expo will closely focus on the theme of"Park City and Habitat"to create a world flower and horticultural event with"contemporary characteristics,international level,Chinese elements and Chengdu characteristics",and the main venue will be located in the eastern part of Chengdu New District.

Toru Mitani is a landscape architect who continues his design activities with the design firm：‘studio on site.’Currently,at the Department of Architecture in the University of Tokyo,he specializes in spatial and morphological studies in landscape architecture,while challenging new designs ranging from private gardens to public spaces.He develops consideration on the meaning of landscape design generated between nature and construction.He conducts research on the morphological language of landscape through the phenomenological spatial design method based on an understanding of ecology and geography.Together with students and members of the firm,he still keeps learning what landscape design is,through design practices and academic research.

Design Statement:
回歸大地的花園
將花園設(shè)計(jì)成竹林叢園，光影交錯(cuò)，微風(fēng)拂葉，吸引游客進(jìn)入花園。園子由自然和人工元素逐漸融合而成，前者由為節(jié)日種植的活竹組成，后者則由按網(wǎng)格布局建造的竹竿組成。直到轉(zhuǎn)過(guò)幾個(gè)彎，游客們會(huì)注意到對(duì)面還有一個(gè)長(zhǎng)凳，這就是花園返回之路的起點(diǎn)。
展覽過(guò)后，除了那塊石碑和一對(duì)長(zhǎng)椅，花園里的一切都將回歸大地。竹竿將在風(fēng)雨中腐朽，小路將褪色為草皮，而竹根將在不久的將來(lái)覆蓋整個(gè)花園，展現(xiàn)出勃勃生機(jī)。2024年后，這里將承載無(wú)數(shù)人的足跡。
A Garden Returning to Earth
The garden is designed as a grove.The pattern of light and shade with the breeze of leaves invites visitors into the garden.The grove is composed of the gradual integration of natural and artificial elements.The former consists of living bamboo planted for the festival,while the latter comprises bamboo poles constructed in a grid layout.It is not until turning several corners of the path which eventually brings visitors through to the bench at the center of the garden,that they notice another bench at the opposite side,which turns out to be the starting point of the way back that represents the essential message of the garden.
Everything in this garden will return to earth after the festival.Poles will decay under the rain and wind and the path will fade into the sod,while bamboo roots will express vitality by covering all over the garden in the near future.Nothing but the monolith,a pair of benches,will inherit the fact that many people walked this place in 2024.

Design Statement:
設(shè)計(jì)以川西本土原生植物為核心，以竹類為設(shè)計(jì)骨干植物，主要以常綠及落葉混交闊葉林為林冠層喬木，以及抗性良好的地被層植物再現(xiàn)原始四川森林生態(tài)系統(tǒng)，再通過(guò)隱于竹林間的構(gòu)筑物與地形重塑，營(yíng)造出“竹海林窗”的展園格局。設(shè)計(jì)將采樣古蜀自然環(huán)境中的原生植物群落，使用竹類和喬木為主體營(yíng)造基礎(chǔ)植物景觀群落，融入成都不同區(qū)域和生境的原生自然植被和典型建筑風(fēng)貌。以竹海林窗、林盤村落、公園城市、氣候變化、四海歸源為主題的五組林窗，構(gòu)畫出以竹海為基底，將植物、文化、建筑融為一體的經(jīng)典展園。
高大的竹類分成大小不同的組團(tuán)隨機(jī)分布在展園當(dāng)中,稍矮一些的散生竹類以及林下灌木點(diǎn)綴其中，形成豐富林地的空間結(jié)構(gòu)。蜿蜒的步道高低起伏穿梭于林間，將大小展園形成完整的故事線，林下地被選用有觀賞價(jià)值的中藥材草本與其他常綠打底地被相映成趣；步移景異，游客在享受豐富的視覺體驗(yàn)同時(shí)，從園藝、植物角度了解成都公園城市的背景和驅(qū)動(dòng)力以及園藝產(chǎn)業(yè)發(fā)展契機(jī)。花開天府之地，萬(wàn)園終將歸源。
The design is based on the native plants of western Sichuan,with bamboo as the backbone plant,evergreen and deciduous mixed broad-leaved forests as the main canopy trees,as well as groundcover plants with good resistance to reproduce the original Sichuan forest ecosystem,and then through the structures hidden in the bamboo forests and terrain remodelling,to create an exhibition pattern of the"Bamboo Sea and Forest Window".The design will sample the native plant communities in the ancient Sichuan natural environment,use bamboo and trees as the main body to create the basic plant landscape communities,and incorporate the native natural vegetation and typical architectural features of different areas and habitats in Chengdu.The five groups of forest windows with the themes of Bamboo Sea,Forest Village,Park City,Climate Change,and Returning to the Source of the Four Seas are designed to create a classic exhibition garden that integrates plants,culture,and architecture with the bamboo sea as the base.
Tall bamboos are randomly distributed in groups of different sizes,while shorter scattered bamboos and undergrowth shrubs form a rich spatial structure of the woodland.The meandering walkway weaves in and out of the forest,forming a complete story line of the large and small exhibition gardens,and the undergrowth is made up of Chinese herbs with ornamental value and other evergreen undergrowth,which is interesting;the visitors can enjoy a rich visual experience and at the same time,learn about the background and driving force of the park city of Chengdu as well as the opportunities for the development of the horticulture industry from the perspective of horticulture and plants.The land of Tianfu will blossom,and all gardens will eventually return to their source.

Design Statement:
空心竹燈
“一切現(xiàn)象，就像一個(gè)幻象，一個(gè)影子，一道燈籠的光芒。光熄滅的地方，無(wú)物存在，空心竹燈。虛懷若竹。”
——這首短詩(shī)概括了這座花園設(shè)計(jì)的理念。
由燈籠、竹子、金沙遺址等蜀地文化意向出發(fā)，TOM先生探索中國(guó)文化給自己帶來(lái)的領(lǐng)悟。竹子和燈籠的“空心”，虛與實(shí)的共存，仿佛指示自然的本源是謙遜、虛心而自我隱藏的，它產(chǎn)生出自然的力量、美和容易被忽視的存在。
如果在想象中把竹桿或燈籠橫切開，會(huì)看到它們的內(nèi)部是空洞，而外部是一圈圓形的、看不透的表層。這座花園的結(jié)構(gòu)正是源于這一“空心竹燈”的意象：它由一層層編織網(wǎng)的墻，組成同心圓外層，編織網(wǎng)上是半透明的植物圖案。層層重疊的圖案和影子，環(huán)繞著花園的中央，那里有一團(tuán)發(fā)光的霧氣，仿佛燈籠的光。
花園像一座迷宮或一片竹林一般，吸引游人向深處探索，我們希望每個(gè)人在游覽過(guò)程中有自己的感受和樂趣。
花園的周圍環(huán)繞著竹林和竹絲束。竹絲束的想法來(lái)源于四川的竹絲曬場(chǎng)，而竹制水瓶架，竹制腳手架是我們對(duì)于竹子的一些新利用，為花園增加趣味。

Starting from the cultural intention of lanterns,bamboo,Jinsha Ruins and other characteristics of Shu,Tom explores the insights that Chinese culture brings to him.The"hollow"of bamboo and lanterns,the coexistence of emptiness and reality,as if to indicate that the origin of nature is humble,modest and self-hidden,which gives rise to the power,beauty and easily overlooked presence of nature.
If we cut open a bamboo pole or lantern in imagination,the inside would be empty,while the outside would be a round invisible surface.The structure of the garden is derived from this image of a"hollow bamboo as lantern":it consists of layers of nylon meshes of translucent plant patterns that form the outer layer of concentric circles.Layers of patterns and shadow surround the center of the garden,where there is a glowing mist,like the light of a lantern.
Like a maze or a bamboo grove,the garden attracts visitors to explore the depths,and we hope that everyone has their own feelings and fun during the tour.
The garden is surrounded by bamboo grove and bamboo strands.The idea of the bamboo bundles comes from the Sichuan bamboo wire sunbeds.And the bamboo water bottle rack and bamboo scaffolding are some of new utilization of bamboo,adding some little fun to the whole garden.

Christian Dobrick,partner and senior landscape architect at West 8,specializes in landscape design for complex urban public spaces.He has led a number of notable large-scale urban design and landscape projects,including the award-winning Madrid Riverside Renewal Landscape Project in Madrid,Spain,the masterplan for the German Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe,Germany,and the masterplan for the UNESCO-protected site of the Vechtenburg,which demonstrates his exceptional project control skills.
02設(shè)計(jì)方案說(shuō)明：
Design Statement:
小涼潭
“涼快”——是成都人夏天的第一要?jiǎng)?wù)。
悶熱的三伏天，一股清泉流過(guò)皮膚，沒什么比這樣的降溫來(lái)得更巴適。在沒有空調(diào)的年代，活水公園打水仗、猛追灣游泳、青城后山插水、虹口漂流、“馬架子”放在清涼的溪水里喝茶打麻將，是每個(gè)成都人的記憶和向往。
柳宗元在《小石潭記》里寫到：“從小丘西行百二十步，隔篁竹，聞水聲，如鳴珮環(huán)”。小涼潭就是這樣一個(gè)地方。我們不希望它成為游客匆匆路過(guò)的打卡點(diǎn)，它將是人們停下來(lái)納涼的避暑地。
沒有明確的游覽線路，小涼潭的西面南面皆可進(jìn)入，圍繞它提供庇蔭的樹林是躲避高溫的第一道屏障。
穿林而過(guò)，可見溪流潺潺，“下見小潭，水尤清冽。全石以為底，近岸，卷石底以出，為坻，為嶼，為嵁，為巖”。四川本地的紅砂巖塊，還有河灘上隨處可見的鵝卵石，是小涼潭的主要材料。三股清泉順著精巧設(shè)置的地形，旋轉(zhuǎn)奔流，到了中央最深處，匯合成一個(gè)清澈見底的小水譚。
隨便找塊石頭坐下，把腳沒進(jìn)水里，讓冷冽的泉水緩解雙腿的疲倦；或是搬一把“馬架子”，樹蔭下、溪流中，以最自然的方式降降溫；等休息夠了，干脆起身走入渦流，和同伴們來(lái)一場(chǎng)童年記憶中的水仗。
THE COOL GARDEN
“Coolness”-Don’t know when it became the first priority of Chengdu people in summer.
In the sweltering dog days,there is no more efficient way of cooling than fresh flow touchs your skin.In the era without air-conditioning,water fights in Living Water Park,swimming in Mengzhui Bay,wading in the Qingcheng mountain,rafting in Hongkou,drinking tea and playing mahjong in the cool stream with bamboo chairs are the memories and wishes of almost every Chengdu person.
The atmosphere of The Cool Garden was inspired“The small tarn”written by Liu Zongyuan:“A hundred and twenty paces west of the knoll,across the bamboos and bushes I heard with delight a gurgling like the sound made by jade bracelets.”The Cool Garden is such a place.We don't want it to be a hit-and-miss spot for tourists rushing by;it will be a summer vacation spot for people to stop and cool off.
There is no definite tour route,but The Cool Garden can be accessed from the west and south,and the woods that surround it to provide shade are the first refuge from the heat.
Through the forest,you can see the stream gurgling,"under the small pool,the water is especially fresh and clean.All the rocks for the bottom,near the shore,rolled stone bottom to out,for his,for the island,for the evidence,for the rock".Sichuan local red sandstone blocks,as well as pebbles everywhere on the river bank,is the main material of the small Liangtan.Three streams of clear water follow the delicately set terrain,swirling and running,and when they reach the deepest part of the center,they merge to form a small,crystal clear water pool.
Just find a rock to sit down,put your feet into the water,let the cold spring water to relieve the tired legs;or take a bamboo chair,under the shade of the trees,in the stream,in the most natural way to cool down;and so rest enough,simply get up and walk into the eddy,and companions to have a childhood memories of the water war.

代表Mati 1909的意大利團(tuán)隊(duì)由Andrea Mati和Costanza Mondani組成。Andrea Mati是Mati 1909集團(tuán)公司的聯(lián)合所有者，他是一位園林設(shè)計(jì)師、藝術(shù)家、社會(huì)企業(yè)家和博洛尼亞大學(xué)（Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna）治療性花園設(shè)計(jì)教授。Costanza Mondani是一位建筑師，Mati 1909治療性花園設(shè)計(jì)團(tuán)隊(duì)的部門經(jīng)理，畢業(yè)于米蘭理工大學(xué)（Politecnico of Milan）和西安建筑科技大學(xué)（Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology），并在清華大學(xué)攻讀博士學(xué)位。
中國(guó)團(tuán)隊(duì)來(lái)自西安建筑科技大學(xué)。李焜博士畢業(yè)于米蘭理工大學(xué)，現(xiàn)任教于西安建筑科技大學(xué)建筑學(xué)院。楊澤鑫是西安建筑科技大學(xué)建筑學(xué)院的博士生。
Mati 1909一直與佛羅倫薩、博洛尼亞和帕多瓦的醫(yī)學(xué)和心理學(xué)院的教授和博士進(jìn)行治療性花園的相關(guān)研究，并在意大利各地實(shí)施了許多項(xiàng)目和會(huì)議。2022年11月，該集團(tuán)在意大利皮斯托亞舉辦了第一屆全國(guó)治療性花園大會(huì)。
The Italian Team representing Mati 1909 is composed by Andrea Mati and Costanza Mondani.
Andrea Mati is the co-owner of the Mati 1909 Group Company and he is a garden designer,artist,social entrepreneur and Professor of Therapeutic Garden design at Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna.
Costanza Mondani is an architect,department manager of Therapeutic Garden design team at Mati 1909,graduated in Politecnico of Milan and Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology and PhD candidate at Tsinghua University,China.
The Chinese team is from Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology.Li Kun received his PhD from Politecnico di Milano and now teaches at the School of Architecture,Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology.Yang Zexin is a PhD candidate at the School of Architecture,Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology.
Mati 1909 has been following much research about therapeutic gardens with professors and Doctors of the Universities of Medicine and Psychology of Florence,Bologna and Padova and has been implementing many projects and conferences around Italy.In November 2022,the group organized the first National Convention of Therapeutic Gardens in Pistoia,Italy.

Design Statement:
DS3地塊的項(xiàng)目設(shè)計(jì)遵循了康療花園的設(shè)計(jì)原則，盡量避免建造，并使用100%的自然元素，例如遮蔭區(qū)的植物和通道的火山土。
該設(shè)計(jì)由6個(gè)區(qū)域組成，代表了從傳統(tǒng)到現(xiàn)代的不同類型的菜園：由各國(guó)家典型果樹構(gòu)成的古典平地果園；文藝復(fù)興時(shí)期的菜園，由幾何形的植物邊界和內(nèi)部的花卉和蔬菜組成，就像歐洲修道院的傳統(tǒng)一樣；永續(xù)栽培區(qū)，由幾種尺寸的可食用植物自由搭配；協(xié)作菜園，以螺旋形狀與精確選擇的蔬菜構(gòu)成。中央?yún)^(qū)域是木梁菜園，呈"環(huán)抱"狀，供人們?cè)谇胺讲萜荷闲菹ⅰ１泵娴膮^(qū)域?qū)ｉT用于遮陽(yáng)避雨。
每個(gè)區(qū)域周圍都有不同植物和大小的灌木叢，所選樹木既有落葉樹，也有常綠樹，還有幾種果樹，營(yíng)造出一個(gè)廣闊的果園。
入口處的水面是花園的“請(qǐng)柬”，遵循風(fēng)水的能量原則。如果把患者帶入園內(nèi)進(jìn)行園藝治療，那么設(shè)計(jì)的空間就成為一個(gè)治療花園，它還可以幫助受抑郁癥影響的人們發(fā)現(xiàn)園藝在自然中對(duì)抗日常城市壓力的有益作用。科學(xué)研究表明，尤其是在癡呆癥、抑郁癥、阿爾茨海默病和飲食失調(diào)的情況下，參與園藝手動(dòng)勞動(dòng)對(duì)減少藥物和改善患者情緒非常有益。
The project design of the DS3 area followed our design principles for the therapeutic gardens,trying to avoid built construction and using 100%of natural elements,such as plants for the shading areas and volcanic soil for the pathways.
The design is composed of 6 areas representing the different typologies of vegetable gardens from tradition to modernity:the classical ground orchard,typical of every country;the Renaissance vegetable garden,made by geometric topiary borders and inner flowers and vegetables,like in the European monastic tradition;the permaculture orchard,made of free shaped and disposition of edible plants of several dimensions;the synergic vegetable gardens,made in spiral shape with a precise selection of vegetables in synergy.The central area is dedicated to the wooden-beam vegetable garden in a“hug”shape for hosting people in relaxation in the front lawn.An area is devoted to shade from sun and rain in the norther area.
Each area is surrounded by bushes of different plants and dimension and the trees selected are both deciduous and evergreen with several type of fruits trees to create a widespread orchard.
Water at the entrance is the invitation to the garden,following fengshui energetic principles.The designed space became a therapeutic garden if patients are lead inside to do horticultural therapy and it can also help people affected by depression to discover the beneficial role of horticulture into nature against everyday city stress.This manual activity has been revealed by scientific researches extremely beneficial and crucial for reducing pharmacological medicines and enhancing the patients’mood,mostly in the cases of dementia,depression,Alzheimer and eating disorders.

Design Statement:
成都有著悠久的歷史文化和獨(dú)特地理地貌，蜀繡作為中國(guó)四大名繡之一，是成都的民間工藝。設(shè)計(jì)的靈感來(lái)源于成都特殊的自然肌理，提取山地特色塑造花園的基底，使用新型的材料——竹鋼形成屏風(fēng)，三個(gè)不同的水景分別代表成都的山脈、盆地以及高山的豐富景觀特色，展示成都天際線肌理以及文化特色形態(tài)。
抬高的生態(tài)噴泉是花園的中心，噴泉頂端種植低維護(hù)的屋頂綠化植物以鼓勵(lì)綠色建筑的設(shè)計(jì)原則。
植物設(shè)計(jì)借鑒荷蘭的可持續(xù)多年生植物與球莖植物的自然混植設(shè)計(jì)理念，采用60種水生植物、小灌木、多年生開花植物和球莖植物，展示綠色在城市中的價(jià)值，構(gòu)造一個(gè)自然積極的場(chǎng)所，鼓勵(lì)人們更多參與自然戶外的活動(dòng)。
通過(guò)這個(gè)方案，我們希望向四川及國(guó)際游客展現(xiàn)園藝積極的姿態(tài)，通過(guò)創(chuàng)造生物多樣性、演繹當(dāng)?shù)氐乩砣宋?、生態(tài)低碳設(shè)計(jì)的策略，以美麗的方式講述綠色城市和低碳未來(lái)城市的故事。
Chengdu has a long history,culture and unique geography.Shu embroidery,as one of the four famous embroideries in China,is a folk craft in Chengdu.The design is inspired by the special natural texture of Chengdu,extracting mountainous features to form the base of the garden,using a new material-bamboo and steel to form a screen,and three different water features to represent Chengdu's rich landscape features of mountains,basins,and high mountains,showcasing the texture of Chengdu's skyline and its cultural features and morphology.
An elevated ecological water fountain is the centrepiece of the garden,topped with low-maintenance green roof planting to encourage green building design principles.
The planting design draws on the Dutch concept of a natural mix of sustainable perennials and bulbs,using 60 species of aquatic plants,small shrubs,flowering perennials and bulbs to demonstrate the value of greenery in the city and to construct a naturally positive place that encourages greater participation in natural outdoor activities.
Through this programme,we hope to show Sichuan and international visitors the positive posture of horticulture and tell the story of a green city and a low-carbon future city in a beautiful way by creating biodiversity,interpreting local geography and humanity,and ecological and low-carbon design strategies.
